About

Emma Lord is an Australian author with a love of all things sci-fi, fantasy and horror.

Her debut novel Anomaly is the first book in the Children of Fate trilogy. Published by Affirm Press / Simon & Schuster in 2024, it won a Victorian Premier’s Literary Award, a NSW Literary Award and an Aurealis Award, and was shortlisted for a Prime Minister’s Literary Award, the Readings Prize, and an ABIA.

The sequel, Scion, will be published in October 2026.

With a background in copywriting, Emma has written everything from TV commercials to articles for The Sydney Morning Herald, HuffPost, and The Chaser. She has also tutored courses in creativity and fiction writing.

When she isn’t writing stories about creepy monsters and teens going rogue, Emma can be found hanging out in Sydney’s inner west with her husband, daughter and Lieutenant Aubrey (an extremely affectionate Bordoodle).
